Aerobatics show - USAF Thunderbirds & our very own RMAF Sukhoi

It was a very amazing, spectacular show indeed. My family were amongst thousands at the TUDM Subang last Saturday morning. Forget about the rain & the traffic jam. We just don't want to miss the Aerobatics show by USAF Thunderbirds and off course our RMAF Sukhoi team = make Malaysians proud !

US Air Force’s Thunderbirds thrill crowd at airshow
SUBANG JAYA: A sterling display of aerial precision and skill by the Thunderbirds, the US Air Force (USAF) aerial demonstration team, kept more than 150,000 spectators here enthralled.

Flying in wingtip-to-wingtip formations at speeds of more than 800kph and demonstrating breathtaking solo manoeuvres, the Thunderbirds’ crew gave a dazzling 45-minute performance at the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) Subang air base yesterday.

The show started at 10.30am with RMAF pilots Lt Col Muhamad Norazlan Arif and Major Mohd Jasmi Abdul Wahab displaying aerial stunts in a Sukhoi Su-30MKM.

At 11.45am, the jet engines of the Thunderbirds’ six F-16 fighters roared, signalling the start of an unforgettable performance.
Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah of Selangor, armed forces chief General Tan Sri Azizan Ariffin and RMAF chief General Datuk Rodzali Daud were among those present.

“My two sons told me that they now have aspirations to become pilots,” said Johari Abdullah, 42, who brought his family of five to the show.

The air base was packed with people by 9.15am.

However, the huge turnout caused a massive traffic jam. An airforce official said cars were at a standstill on roads leading to the airbase by 10am.

The Thunderbirds’ visit to Malaysia was the third stop of their Fareast tour, after performances in Hawaii and Townsville, Australia.

The six-week tour that began on Sept 16 will also stop in Thailand, Japan and South Korea.
